Tech Authority President, Peter McKinnon, Business Person of the Year

There is no doubt that this person loves to give back to the community.  A business owner who hired a Rockingham Community College graduate and also giving out scholarships to students pursuing a career in Information Technology.

This person believes in shopping local as much as you can, keeping our money local.

The business person offers services from network design to computer repair.

Some of the board affiliations he sits and supports are:

  1. HELP, INC
  2. Reidsville Chamber Board of Directors
  3. RCC Scholarship Program
  4. Graduate of Leadership Rockingham

His mission statement….. Solutions Not Excuses

Let’s give a hand to the Business Person of the year to Peter McKinnon, Owner of Tech Authority.

Reidsville Chamber of Commerce 2012 Ambassador of the Year

Diane Ambassador of the year     Denise Ambassador of the year

The Recipient of the 2012 Ambassador of the Year Award is relatively new to his business and his business is relatively new to our area.

It was obvious that this gentleman recognized early in working with the chamber, that every event he participated in, would offer him an opportunity to meet a perspective client.  He asked to be part of the Ambassador program to use it as a tool to meet those who might be in need of his company’s services and at the same time to support the Chamber and it’s members.

You might have seen his award recipient registering attendees at many coffees he has attended, or at ribbon cuttings while supporting our new businesses. He has brought several perspective members to our events, two who have become new Chamber Members.  This person has offered volunteer support at the Chamber to make phone calls when needed and is always eager to help.

This is a great deal of work in the year of a Chamber Ambassador, but this person was only an Ambassador for a few short months.

You might notice that this award winners name was not listed as the 2013 Ambassador, as he is now a Reidsville Chamber Board Member!

We had to make the most of his dedication!

I would now like to recognize our 2012 Ambassador of the Year…

Reidsville Chamber of Commerce 2012 Small Business of the Year

small business of the year

While our Small Business of the Year’s owners are not new to the area, their small business is. Started in 2011, they took their knowledge and years of previous experience and brought it from Greensboro to start a Rockingham County based technology consulting firm for small to medium business.  While the business that they have grown at an overwhelming rate in the last two years is important, what makes them stand out is the way that they have reached out to help others. Not only do they help their fellow colleagues, but when they see a need in this community, they ask, How can we help or what can we do?

A most recent example of this was when they realized that there was a need for a workshop to be offered to all Rockingham County High School Students’ Parents. The school system was able to roll out their initiative for the Chromebooks this year and this business decided they wanted to help teach the parents what kind of technology their students were using. You can also find them supporting local fundraisers, initiatives, and volunteering at local community events. They help by giving back to the Chambers in all three areas, giving to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Initiative with Rock CO Partnership for Children – that they have been involved in the local soup kitchen, the Reidsville Free Clinic, HELP, Inc., Reidsville Kiwanis, and heavily involved in their church where they helped start the community garden which gives away over 4,ooo pounds of food away per year.

Please help me in congratulating our Small Business of the Year, Tech Authority

Tech Authority’s, Peter McKinnon.
